JEFFERSONVILLE —
A Jeffersonville man was charged in Clark County Circuit Court No. 4 Friday on charges of beating up his girlfriend.
Corey Lewis Hollowell, 24, of 1512 E. 10th St., is facing four felony charges for allegedly battering the woman in their home on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Jeffersonville police responded to the home about 6:12 a.m. on a battery call.
Both Hollowell and the woman reported that the assault began as the two were showering together.
Hollowell said the physical altercation was initiated after the subject of the woman’s ex-boyfriend was brought up.
Police reported that Hollowell appeared intoxicated due to his bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol.
Hollowell’s finger was bleeding heavily, police reported.
He told police his finger was injured from punching a wall, but police did not locate blood on the wall.
The woman told police Hollowell had closed-fist punched her in the mouth and back of the head.
Police discovered that her tooth was chipped and reported that she said her tooth was not broken prior to being struck in the mouth by Hollowell.
Police reported that from the evidence at the scene, it appeared that Hollowell injured his finger when striking his girlfriend in the face, not by punching a wall.
The woman’s left eye appeared bloody, police reported.
She told the officers that Hollowell had thrown hot candle wax at her, some of which entered her eye.
Police reported the woman had candle-wax splatter on her right thigh and down the front of her hooded sweatshirt.
According to the arrest narrative, the woman’s two twin 5-year-old boys, from a previous relationship, were in the home when the battery occurred.
Police reported that the children were heard crying when officers arrived.
Blood was found on the bed, the wall next the bed and on the floor of the bedroom.
Hollowell was charged with two counts of aggravated battery, a class B felony, and two counts of domestic battery, a class D felony.
A pretrial conference was scheduled for Nov. 26.
