A 17-year-old girl faces several felony charges after being waived into adult court Thursday in Clark County Superior Court No. 1.
Ashley M. Minton is charged with class B felony armed robbery, class B felony robbery resulting in bodily injury, class C felony intimidation with a deadly weapon and class A misdemeanor battery for an incident that allegedly occurred Jan. 16 in the courtyard of French Quarter apartment complex.
Minton and 18-year-old Cory Wayne Birge were arrested Monday. Minton was initially charged as a juvenile. She has an initial hearing scheduled for Monday.
JPD Detective Todd Hollis said a search warrant was executed at Birge’s apartment Monday, and the two suspects were taken to the police station and interviewed. According to police, a 9-millimeter semi-automatic pistol was used to rob a 16-year-old girl of a cell phone, wallet, clothing and money.
The victim suffered some injuries to her face but nothing life-threatening, Hollis said.
Birge faces the same charges except for not facing the misdemeanor battery charge. His bond is set at $25,000 cash-only.
The sentencing range for a class B felony is six to 20 years, for a class C felony two to eight years and for a class A misdemeanor up to one year.
