Congressman Baron Hill will make his re-election bid official next week.
In a news release Friday, Hill said he will file the proper paperwork with the Indiana Secretary of State’s office at 2:30 p.m. Monday to make him a candidate for the 9th District U.S. House seat.
In past elections, Hill stopped at courthouses in each of the 20 counties represented by the 9th District after filing at the Statehouse. He said he’ll expound on why he’s not doing that this year during a news conference Monday.
“I want folks back home to know how serious I am about this election and tackling the problems confronting our great nation, and how much I want to continue serving the fine people of Southern Indiana in Congress,” he said.
Filing for the May 4 primary began Jan. 20, and ends Feb. 19.
According to the Secretary of State’s Web site, Lendall B. Terry is the only Democrat to file for the primary in the 9th District House race.
Republicans Mike Sodrel, Rick Warren and Todd Young and Travis Hankins have filed for the primary.
