BROWNSTOWN —
Class 3A No. 13 Brownstown Central scored 21 points in the first quarter and the Braves’ defense did the rest in a 35-0 win over Silver Creek on Friday.
Mitchell Scarlett scored twice and the Brownstown defense earned its first shutout of the season, holding the Dragons to 178 total yards.
Layne Taylor led Silver Creek with 88 yards on 21 carries. Romney Allen added the rest, 13 yards on four carries. Silver Creek quarterback Brooks Howell completed 10 of 19 passes for 77 yards and Austin Hastings had a team-best 42 yards on a pair of receptions.
The 2-6 Dragons host winless Crawford County on Senior Night next Friday. Brownstown Central (7-1) goes to Corydon Central next Friday with second place in the Mid-Southern Conference on the line.
