Kimmel places second at Salem
Clarksville native Frank Kimmel fell one position short of winning his first ARCA Racing Series race since 2008 last Sunday at Salem Speedway.
The nine-time ARCA championship finished second to teenage winner Alex Bowman by three car lengths in the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200.
“I’m really proud of the crew here for setting up a great car. They had a lot of pressure on them, and they were never phased by it,” Kimmel said in a statement.
Brennan Poole ended up third. Chase Elliott, the son of former NASCAR champion Bill Elliott, finished fourth, followed by Erik Jones in fifth.
Henryville resident Darrell Basham placed 17th. Sellersburg resident and Clarksville-based Kimmel Racing driver Will Kimmel was 27th.
