Kimmel finishes season with sixth-place effort
Clarksville native Frank Kimmel ended the 2012 ARCA Racing Series season last Friday with a sixth-place finish in the Kansas Lottery 98.9 at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.
But the effort was not good enough to secure Kimmel his 10th ARCA season championship. Kimmel wound up second in the final ARCA point standings, 75 points behind champion Chris Buescher.
“It was an exciting race. Congratulations to Chris — he and his team did a great job. We came home sixth and had a fourth- or fifth-place car,” Kimmel said in a statement. “All in all, it was a great season for the Ansell/Menards Toyota. We’ll take second and come back next year and go after them.”
Alex Bowman won the race, followed by Kevin Swindell, Grant Enfinger, Brennan Poole and Brennan Newberry. Buescher placed eighth.
Sellersburg resident Will Kimmel concluded his season with a ninth-place finish. Kimmel is the nephew of Frank Kimmel. Will Kimmel finished 12th in the final ARCA standings with two top-five finishes and six top-10s this year.
Henryville resident Darrell Basham wound up 36th.
