Madison girls’ basketball team outscored New Albany 21-10 in the fourth quarter on Wednesday to earn a 67-54 Hoosier Hills Conference win.
Madison hit eight 3-pointers and hit 21-of-27 free throws in the victory.
“It pretty much came down to allowing them to shoot (uncontested) shots from the outside, which we knew we couldn’t do, and we let them get to the free throw line way too much,” Bulldog coach Amanda Carmichael said.
Kayton Cole led all scorers with 21 points. Lauren Green and Kayla Lewellen each scored 16 points for the Cubs.
“We had a hard time defending Lewellen inside,” Carmichael admitted.
New Albany hosts Seymour tonight in its final HHC contest of the season.
GYMNASTICS
• Jeffersonville’s Ashley Gallahar won four of five events in Wednesday’s meet against Seymour, but the Owls depth prevailed, 105.85-86.2.

Seymour placed two gymnsts in the top three in four events. Jeff took second and third on the beam with Gallahar and Shea O’Brien, respectively. O’Brien also finished fourth on the floor.
