CLARKSVILLE —
Eastern turned Providence turnovers into points all night — but particuarly early on — and dropped the Pioneers, 53-33 on the road Saturday.
The Musketeers fed off of Providence turnovers and jumped out to a 17-3 lead in the first three minutes. Eastern led 18-7 after one quarter and never looked back in improving to 3-1.
After starting 3-1, Providence falls to 3-3 with the loss.
“It was just the same ‘ol story for us — turnovers,” Providence coach Brad Burden said. “We just turn the ball over too much. We dug ourselves too big of a hole.”
Lillian Hughes led Providence with nine points. Nichole Tucker added seven and Meredith Endris contributed with five.
The Musketeers were led by Krista Roberts’ 17 points. Donnell Rogers added 14, including two of Eastern’s six three-point shots.
Providence will try to get back above .500 on Tuesday at South Central.
