> SOUTHERN INDIANA —
Floyd Central’s wrestlers entered the 2012-13 season as the Hoosier Hills Conference favorites.
If there was any doubt of that, there is no longer after the Highlanders easily swept the field in the Hoosier Hills Conference duals on Friday and Saturday.
After beating Jeffersonville 52-14 and New Albany 52-21 on Firday, Floyd won five times on Saturday, including dominating performances over contenders Columbus East (42-21) and Jennings County (43-12).
In their final two matches, the Highlanders beat Bedford North Lawerence and Seymour by a combined 149-12.
After going 1-1 on Friday, Jeffersonville won its first three matches on Saturday — defeating Seymour, New Albany and Bedford North Lawrence — before falling to Jennings and East in its final two matches.
Stevie Jones at 106 pounds and heavyweight Gavan Jolley-Little each went unbeaten for the Red Devils. Jolley-Little defeated three wrestlers who had beaten him a year ago.
Jasi Coureur was 6-1 at 113 pounds and JoJo DeLeon, Oscar DeLeon and David Fridley each went 5-2 for Jeff.
New Albany finished the event with a 3-4 mark, defeating Madison on Friday and Seymour and BNL on Saturday.
