Rebels shoot down Borden, win SAC title

South Central drills nine 3s in 67-51 win

By MIKE HUTSELL

Host South Central drained six 3-pointers in the opening quarter, opening an early advantage as the Rebels beat Borden on Monday, 67-51.

The win clinched the outright Southern Athletic Conference title for South Central.

Shelby Miller hit five from downtown en route to a game-high 27 points for South Central (12-8). Whitney Pease hit four 3s and scored 21 in the victory.

“We did do a good job closing out on the shooters early on,” said Borden coach Charlie Gardner. “That put us in too big a hole early on.”

Sophomore Allison Bishop scored a season-high 20 points and had seven rebounds in the loss for Borden, which returns to the court tonight at Clarksville.

“That’s a big night for (Bishop),” Gardner said. “We’ll need her to keep up those type of performances with sectionals coming up.”
