CLARKSVILLE — Unbeaten Paoli kept its perfect season going strong on Friday as the visiting Rams topped Clarksville in the opening round of Class 2A sectional play, 48-16.
The Rams (10-0) scored 40 unanswered points, taking advantage of three General turnovers, after Drew Farney’s touchdown tied the score at 8-8 in first quarter.
Clarksville senior Michael Nelms made the final moments of his career memorable, contributing to the Generals final score in of the season with a big play on special teams.
Nelms scooped up a blocked field goal attempt and raced 67 yards to the Paoli 1-yard-line. He scored on the next play from scrimmage and then he grabbed a two-point conversion pass with seven seconds left to cap the scoring in the contest.
Paoli will play host to Providence on Friday.
