CLARKSVILLE —  Seniors Dalton Duley and George Knott combined for 34 points to lead the Providence boys’ basketball team past visiting Rock Creek Academy on Tuesday night at the Larkin Center, 61-25.

Duley scored a game-high 21 points, hitting five 3-pointers. Duley had 14 points in the first half thanks to connecting on four trifectas.

Knott ended up with 13 points. Fellow Pioneer senior Cory Cahalan poured in seven and junior Nick Hayes added six.

Class 2A No. 4 Providence led 16-8 after the first quarter and then outscored the Lions 25-9 in the middle two periods to build a 41-17 lead.

Pioneers’ coach Lou Lefevre said his players benefited from Rock Creek’s leading scorer Will Brown being sick. Brown saw limited action on Tuesday night.

“We were able to take advantage of that,” Lefevre said. “During the first two possessions of the game, [Providence’s] Nano Grantz hit two perimeter jumpers and that kind of opened things up for Knott, Duley and Cahalan. That was big.”

Gedeon Nzombi paced the Lions with 11 points.

• Durham lifts Creek past Austin: With the score tied at 46, junior Shae Durham tipped in a missed layup by teammate Zach Davidson at the final buzzer to give host Silver Creek a 48-46 victory over Austin on Tuesday night.

The Dragons had a 12-point lead entering the fourth quarter. But the Eagles (7-11, 2-7 Mid-Southern Conference) knocked down a handful of 3-pointers to help them make a rally in the final period.

Austin’s Jeremiah White tied the score at 46 with two free throws with 1:02 remaining in regulation.

Silver Creek called a timeout following the foul shots and decided to hold the ball for the final shot. In the final seconds, Davidson drove toward the basket, but missed the layup. That set up Durham’s heroics.

“We played well for three quarters and then kind of shot ourselves in the foot,” Dragons’ coach Brandon Hoffman said. “We lost focus for a three-minute stretch [in the fourth quarter]. Their shooting and our turnovers got them back in it.”

Gabe Bauer led Silver Creek with 13 points, while Davidson chipped in 12. Durham scored nine. Also for the Dragons, Jake Steele had five rebounds and five steals and Sam Garr had five boards.

• International gets first win: Previously-unbeaten Indianapolis International defeated winless Henryville, 63-49 on Tuesday.

Henryville senior Tyler Collins scored 25 points, but he couldn’t help the Hornets overcome Alex Prather’s four first-quarter 3-pointers or Skyler Kolli’s 26 points for International

“It was a tough night for us,” Henryville coach Dan Carmony said. “I feel bad for our seniors.”

The Gryphons took advantage of five first-quarter Hornet turnovers to take a 16-10 lead after one then score more second-quarter turnovers by Henryville to take a 35-21 lead at the break.

“We dug ourselves a big hole in the first half,” Carmony said. “We fought hard in the second half, but it was too-little, too-late.”

International built its lead to as large as 43-22 early in the third quarter. A late 10-1 run got Henryville within 54-46, but Kollli beat Henryville’s pressure for a 3-point play with 1:42 left to essentially put the game away.

Cody Reister added 12 points for the Hornets, while Prather finished with 14 for International.
