> SOUTHERN INDIANA —
CHEERS
... to the members of New Albany’s City Council who voted for a resolution at their Aug. 19 meeting denouncing the Ohio River Bridges Project as planned and its need for tolls. In the past we have been hypercritical of the council members for their lack of forward thinking but this is a very progressive step.
They can now give their resolution some teeth by rejecting One Southern Indiana’s request for $70,000 at their Sept. 2 meeting. With their never wavering support for the bridge project 1si has shown that they are out of touch with the citizens of New Albany and we could come up with a better plan for our tax money.

... to the New Albany City Council for opposing (even if ceremonially) the proposed tolls for the Ohio River Bridges Project. This boondoggle keeps getting worse, and Hoosiers are the ones who will foot most of the bill!

... to NA-FC School Board member Becky Gardenour for standing up for the kids and families!

JEERS
... to Indiana State Rep. Ed Clere for not denouncing and Republican groups for putting out trashy campaign fliers about Shane Gibson's work as a prosecutor. Whatever happened to sticking to the issues or campaigning without fear mongering? Is this the kind of classless behavior we can expect at our state capitol from that duo if Clere wins in November? No thank you!
— Tribune reader Matthew Lorch, New Albany, via Facebook.com/newsandtribune
... to New Albany-Floyd County Schools Superintendent Bruce Hibbard. Does he think we (the parents) are blind to his politics?
— Kelli Recker Witsman, Lanesville, via Facebook.com/newsandtribune
... to Bruce Hibbard. He is supposed to be part of a team — not a dictator!
— Susan Danielle Greenwell, via Facebook.com/newsandtribune
... to incumbent Indiana State Rep. Ed Clere and challenger Shane Gibson for not denouncing the recent trashy mailers and having an honest debate about the issues that matter to the voters at home.

OUR VIEW: Board needs to retain Daeschner
We realize these are just numbers, but they are the method instituted by the state and federal government to measure a school’s effectiveness. It’s understandable to take issue with how schools and students are measured. That’s not Daeschner’s fault. He is simply helping improve the school system in the required areas.
