EVENING NEWS CHEERS AND JEERS: Aug. 21, 2010

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — CHEERS ...

... to the Jeff/GRC 13-14 year olds for their exciting run in the Junior League World Series which ended Wednesday in Taylor, Mich.

Many of the boys on the team have been playing baseball together for years and first gave Jeffersonville a full-blown case of Little League fever when they played in the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pa., in 2008.

They’ve given Jeffersonville a reason to be proud. Hats off to the boys, their parents and coaches for all of their hard work and dedication.

And thanks for another fantastic summer.

READER CHEERS …

... for those involved, from organizers to spectators, for the quality and excitement of the National Masters Bicycling Championships in downtown Jeffersonville on Aug. 7 and 8.

To see athletes of all ages representing more than 20 states riding 30-plus miles at 25 to 30 mph with only inches separating their $5,000-plus bicycles repeatedly negotiating 90-degree turns in 90-degree heat was indeed a great opportunity that most of us have never and will never experience again.

And it was free!
