In her re-election bid Tuesday, City Clerk Marcey Wisman faced the same opponent as in 2003 — previous City Clerk Ronny Hornung — and came up with the same result: a comfortable win of more than 1,200 votes.
Wisman won 29 of 34 precincts in claiming 4,414 votes to Hornung’s 3,200. In 2003, Wisman claimed 5,524 votes to Hornung’s 4,244.
Wisman’s vote total was the largest of any city candidate this year.
“I feel great. I just feel like the people in New Albany have confidence in me and I think I can continue to live up to that confidence,” Wisman said after the result became apparent.
Wisman and Deputy Clerk Mindy Milburn were recently trained to use a new electronic traffic-ticket processing system, and Wisman said she expects it to be fully in place by January.
Wisman also said the office will attempt to put audio recordings of City Council meetings on her newalbany.in.gov Web site.
After Hornung defeated Jennifer Mayfield and Lisa Curry in the Republican primary, she spent a fraction of the money that Wisman invested in the race. Wisman was unopposed by other Democrats in May.
