Yarmuth defeats Northup in rematch of ’06 race in Ky.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Democrat John Yarmuth has easily defeated former Republican Congresswoman Anne Northup in a rematch of their 2006 race in Louisville’s 3rd District.

Northup was the incumbent two years ago, when Democrats seized control of the U.S. House.

Republican U.S. Reps. Hal Rogers and Geoff Davis also easily won re-election in their respective districts in eastern and northern Kentucky. Meanwhile two state senators, Democrat David Boswell and Republican Brett Guthrie have wrapped up their campaigns for Kentucky’s 2nd Congressional District. They are vying for the seat left open by Ron Lewis, who is retiring.

Two other incumbents faced challengers in congressional elections.
