CLARKSVILLE —
The Falls of the Ohio State Park will celebrate George Rogers Clark Days from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., June 16-17.
This new event will celebrate the life and times of George Rogers Clark. It will include re-enactors, food, and vendors with period crafts. Tours of the Clark cabin and gardens will be given on those days, as well as at the newly constructed McGee Cabin. The McGee cabin was the home of Ben and Venus McGee who were indentured servants to General Clark. The cabin represents one of the first freed-slave communities in the Northwest Territory, named Guinea Bottoms that was built in about 1802.
Special programs include:
Saturday: Mel Hankla will portray Clark at 1 p.m. and traditional folk music from the time period will be played by The Griffin’s from noon to 2 p.m.
Sunday: Mandy Dick will portray Lucy Clark Croghan at 1 p.m. and Elizabeth English Pennington at 2:30 p.m.
