Bliss said a week-long vacation in a beach-front condo in Destin, Fla., tickets to see Jimmy Buffett at the KFC Yum! Center and an African Safari for two are also included in the live auction. Bliss said while some of the auction items are enticing, he really wants the community to show support for its schools.

Carmichael said she decided to continue the event, which was originally started in the 1980s by former judge George “Buzz” Jacobs, as a way to demystify the courtroom as well as teach children about responsibility.

Judge to host ‘Adopt A Doll’ event
Carmichael hopes to have at least 50 children at the event this year after having 30 last year.
“My court staff and I enjoy this more than anything we do all year,” she said. -
