FLOYD COUNTY — Two Louisville motorcyclists remain in serious condition after wrecking on Ind. 111 north of the Horseshoe Casino on Saturday evening.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at about 5:30 p.m. reporting the accident. First responders arrived at the scene and determined both motorcyclists had suffered critical and life-threatening injuries, according to a press release from the Floyd County Combined Accident Reconstruction Team.
A preliminary investigation showed a black 1981 Yamaha was traveling northbound on Ind. 111 when it slowed and moved to the right into the path of a blue 2002 Suzuki. Both riders lost control and went off the east side of the road.
The motorcyclists were identified as Hildred Lee Brown, 52, of Louisville, and Holland Moore, 23, of Louisville.
Both men were airlifted to University Hospital in Louisville where they remained Monday. They were listed in serious condition Monday afternoon.
The men were reportedly riding in a group of motorcyclists that were returning to Louisville after making a brief stop at the Horseshoe Casino.
Police say the injuries could have been significantly reduced if the men had been wearing helmets.
