Classes canceled at IU Southeast today

Water main break temporarily shuts down campus

Indiana University Southeast was closed today [Monday] after a water main break disrupted service to the campus.

The water main broke around midnight between Hillside Hall and Orchard Lodge. There were reports of water outages in buildings across campus, including the on-campus lodges, a news release from IUS says.

By 5 a.m., water was restored to several classroom buildings. At 10 a.m., water was restored to the majority of campus, with the exception of Orchard Lodge and University Center.

Crews are working to restore water to those buildings as soon as possible.

Repairs will continue today, as will the investigation into the cause of the water main break. Classes will remain canceled today as repairs are finished.

The lodges will remain open, but residents have been informed not to consume tap water until they are notified repairs are complete. Residents living in Orchard Lodge will have access to restroom facilities in the neighboring lodges. The campus expects to have water restored to Orchard Lodge on Monday afternoon.

The campus fully anticipates to reopen on a normal schedule Tuesday.
