Part of Lincoln Drive to close
TSI will be out replacing a portion of the force main along Lincoln Drive in Clarksville on Thursday night.
To allow for this work to be completed, Lincoln Drive from the Edlen’s Car Shop to Lynnwood will be closed starting Thursday mid-day until mid-day Friday, according to an email from the town of Clarksville. The road will be reopened for the weekend, with the repaving completed Monday. A concrete cap will be poured to handle traffic over the weekend.
Cabin dedication, ribbon-cutting is today
The Ben and Venus McGee replica cabin at the George Rogers Clark Homesite at Falls of the Ohio State Park will be dedicated during a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. today, Oct. 10, at the George Rogers Clark Homesite, 1102 W. Harrison Ave., Clarksville.
A reception with light refreshments and entertainment will follow at 5 p.m. at the Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center, 201 W. Riverside Drive, Clarksville.

NEW ALBANY
5K to help family
Lilly Skaggs was diagnosed with leukemia this year. She is 3 years old and has two sisters and a 5K run/walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at Community Park in New Albany to raise money for her family.
Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. for those needing to register and check in for those who have preregistered will begin at 7 a.m. At about 7:45 there will be a ceremony with guest speaker William Bradley. He is 26 and has overcome his battle with leukemia.

St. Elizabeth holding open house
St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities will hold an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Old Holy Trinity Rectory 702 East Market St., New Albany. This event is free and open to the public. There will be light refreshments, door prizes and tours of the building.
St. Elizabeth’s has started the process of rehabilitating this 142-year-old building that has been vacant since April. The building will eventually be used to expand social service programs, providing additional space for mental health therapy and case management.
St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities in New Albany, Indiana has a maternity home for young women in crises pregnancies, a transitional home with studio apartments for mothers and babies, a supported living program for 16 developmentally disabled adults, a CASA program in Floyd and Washington counties, and is a licensed adoption agency in Indiana and Kentucky.
Church hosting caregiver event
Southern Indiana area caregivers are invited to a free event designed to provide encouragement and strength for the often difficult job of caring for older adults at 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at Graceland Baptist Church, 3600 Kamer-Miller Road, New Albany.
The featured speaker will be Lori Hogan, author of Strength for the Moment and co-founder of Home Instead Senior Care.

Annual Haunted Woods set
The 20th annual Haunted Woods, sponsored by The Pepper Upper Club, will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13, on Ind. 60, 2.5 miles west of Hamburg. Watch for signs.
Admission is $10 per person. Concession stand opens at 6:30 p.m. The event will provide fun for the entire family.

The Clark County Tea Party invites the public to the group’s next meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Silver Creek Middle School, 495 N. Indiana Ave., Sellersburg.
Guest speakers will include Alice Dorman Butler, candidate for Greater Clark County Schools Board; and a representative from Americans for Prosperity, which is an organization of grassroots leaders who engage citizens in the name of limited government and free markets on the local, state and federal levels.

POLICE: New Albany mother killed two children, then herself
New Albany Police Chief Sherri Knight said severe mental illness is what led to New Albany resident Jaime Clutter to drown her two children, then herself, in Falling Run Creek on March 13. The bodies were found where the creek runs through Binford Park.
