Clark and Floyd counties dodged the snow earlier this week and the forecast predicts Metro Louisville will again miss the heaviest snow that is expected to start overnight.
The National Weather Service in Louisville is predicting 3 to 5 inches of snow to fall over Southern Indiana by Saturday morning. A winter storm warning remains in effect for the area through 6 a.m. Saturday and a winter weather advisory extends until 6 p.m.
Heavier snows are in the forecast to the west and north, the two areas which saw much heavier snowfall Wednesday, when Clark and Floyd counties received little to no snow accumulation. More than 6 inches could fall north of a line from Jasper to Madison.
Rain was expected to change to snow after midnight and most of the accumulation was expected before dawn Saturday. Road conditions are expected to be hazardous through the end of Saturday, the weather service predicted.
The weather service expects a high of 30 Saturday, with wind gusts of up to 25 mph. A low of 21 is in the forecast for Saturday.
Highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s are also predicted through Wednesday. The weather service said another storm system may spread light snow or a wintry mix over the region Monday into Tuesday, but only light accumulations are predicted at this time.
