New Albany man arrested on marijuana charges

Arrests expected after drug seizure

A New Albany man was arrested on a warrant for drug charges Tuesday afternoon.

James D. Thurman, 22, was arrested at his residence in the 400 block of West 8th Street in New Albany just before 5 p.m., according to a New Albany Police Department press release.

NAPD FLEX officers arrested the New Albany man on a warrant charging him with possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor, possession of paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor, and maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony.

He was taken to the Floyd County Jail awaiting an initial hearing.



Marijuana seized in Beechwood housing complex

Police expect to seek warrants for at least two people after the FLEX unit conducted an investigation Tuesday in the 300 block of MacArthur Drive.

Officers went to an apartment in the Beechwood public housing area at about 12:30 p.m. They seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges are expected to be filed in the matter.
