NEW ALBANY —
The woman whose remains were found on the banks of the Ohio River in New Albany Friday morning has been identified as 60-year-old Barbara Mudd, of Louisville.
Floyd County Coroner Leslie Knable released the name Saturday with a statement that Mudd had jumped from the Clark Memorial Bridge at some point Thursday.
Knable also included in the statement that Mudd's vehicle had been located in Jeffersonville.
She had previously stated, after examining the body, that there were no apparent signs of foul play or that the woman had been involved in an accident.
The body was discovered about 10:30 a.m. Friday by a passing barge crew.
Police said Friday the body was found on the river bank near QRS Recycling at 1001 Floyd St.
Officers said the body was stable on the shore when police arrived.
