A man died Friday afternoon after having a large limb fall on him while he was cutting loose limbs in a tree.
Vern N. Setterdahl, 62, of Gillson, Ill., was at his son’s residence at 4714 Jan Lee Dr. helping him cut down limbs when the accident occurred, according to Floyd County Coroner Greg Balmer.
Balmer said Setterdahl was “about 30 feet” off the ground when the limb fell and trapped him in the tree.
“It came over on him and pinned him,” Balmer said.
Jan Lee Drive is off of Chapel Lane.
Setterdahl was pronounced dead at the scene around 2:30 p.m. Balmer said he was conscious when emergency personnel arrived at the scene.
Balmer said Setterdahl is the second man to die locally from the Sept. 14 wind-storm related injuries. He said a Memphis man died after falling off a roof trying to nail loose shingles.
