Raid leads to man’s arrest for manufacturing meth in New Albany

Michael South arrested Wednesday

The New Albany Police Department busted a suspected meth lab in a garage at 36 W. Fifth St.

Michael D. South, 50, was arrested Wednesday for manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance.

South is a tenant at the residence. According to police records, officers were responding to information they had received through a tip and found the drugs and materials in a garage.

South is being held in the Floyd County Jail awaiting official charges. The prosecutor’s office has until Tuesday to file the paperwork.
