Just in time for the holiday season retail rush, RadioShack will open along State Street in New Albany Friday.
The 2,500 square-foot store is located at 2221 State St., near Chick-fil-A. RadioShack features electronic equipment of all sorts including GPS receivers, digital music players and computers. Digital cameras, camcorders and power accessories will also be sold at the location.
With the opening of the New Albany location, there will be approximately 20 RadioShacks in the greater Louisville area according to a news release from the company.
The State Street spot features RadioShacks latest contemporary design, offering warm, inviting colors and an organized, intimate layout, according to the release.
It takes the place of the former New Albany RadioShack, which was located at 2669 Charlestown Road.
The State Street corridor has always been a strong location for retail trade opportunities. In this difficult time, the [Mayor Doug] England administration is pleased to see that RadioShack has strong enough confidence in the New Albany market area to invest in the new State Street store, stated Deputy Mayor Carl Malysz in an e-mail.
At the same time, this is bittersweet news as RadioShacks former location on Charlestown Road has been closed.
