A 31-year-old New Albany man was arrested over the weekend for failing to register as a sex offender.
James R. Hack Jr. was convicted of vicarious sexual gratification in 2000 in Floyd County. He was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison. He was then convicted of criminal confinement of a person less than 18 years old in 2006 in Clark County. He was sentenced to one year in prison with two years probation.
He also has spent time at the Indiana Department of Correction on unrelated battery and burglary convictions in Clark and Floyd counties.
Hack has been wanted since August on unrelated misdemeanor charges of criminal recklessness and invasion of privacy. A warrant was issued on Oct. 22 for failing to register, a class D felony.
Hack was arrested on that warrant by the New Albany Police Department. The possible sentence is six months to three years in prison. Hack gave his current address as being on the 500 block of Culbertson Avenue.
He is being held in the Floyd County Jail awaiting his first court appearance.
