Red Cross Thanksgiving Blood Drives start Monday
The American Red Coss will host the following blood drives and encourages the public to consider starting a new holiday tradition of giving:
• Monday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., LifeSpan Resources, 33 State St., New Albany.
• Nov. 23, 1 to 6 p.m., Purdue University College of Technology, 3000 Technology Drive, New Albany.
• Nov. 30, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Indiana University Southeast, 4201 Grant Line Road, New Albany.
• Nov. 30, 3 to 7 p.m., Highlander Point Center, 851 Highlander Point Drive, Floyds Knobs.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of ID are required at check-in.

December computer classes at the Library
The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library offers basic computer courses, taught by Carol Butler, a retired Information Services Librarian, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday Dec. 1-15 in the Lee T. Fletcher computer lab., with registration beginning Nov. 23.
Classes are free, however, a New Albany-Floyd County library card is required. Seating is limited. Library patrons may sign up for two classes each month.
Classes offered are: Dec. 1, Computer Basics; Dec. 3, Windows Basics; Dec. 8, Email Basics; Dec. 10, Microsoft Word; Dec. 15 Microsoft Word II.

Library’s Teen Scene hosting ‘Holiday Greetings for Vets’
The Teen Scene Initiative members and the New Albany-Floyd County Public LIbrary will host “Holiday Greetings for Vets” beginning Nov. 16 through Dec. 16, in which the public can write a message of encouragement to hospitalized veterans by choosing or donating a card at the Reference Services Desk at the library.
TSI members will distribute the cards to the local VA Hospital.

Friends of the New Albany Library Thanksgiving sale set for Nov. 21
The Friends of the New Albany Library will host their Annual Thanksgiving Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 21 in the library’s Annex Building, 180 West Spring St., New Albany.
All cookbooks and diet books will be discounted by 50 percent. A recent large single donation of cookbooks will mean many bargains for shoppers. Regular prices are $1 for hardbacks and videos; 50 cents for paperbacks and CD’s; 25 cents for cassette tapes; 10 cents for magazines; and 5 cents for vinyl records. Children’s books are available at prices of $1 or less.

Henryville alumni games scheduled for men, women
The Henryville High School Alumni Game will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 28.
Games will be scheduled for men and women who graduated from Henryville High School.
The annual alumni game is a fundraiser for the Dollars for Scholars Committee, which raises money to provide local students with scholarships.

Light Up Charlestown event to be held Nov. 27
Light Up Charlestown will begin at 5 p.m. Nov. 27 in Greenway Park, with Mayor Bob Hall and Clerk Treasurer Donna Coomer welcoming the crowd at 6:30 p.m. and leading the countdown to the Light Up at 6:45 p.m.
The concession stand will open at 5 p.m. on the day of Light Up Charlestown, where the Charlestown Beautification Committee will sell hot chocolate, while the Charlestown High School cheerleaders and Charlestown High School Theatre Department will be selling baked goods.
