Prohealth Rehab offers free balance screening
ProHealth Rehabilitation is implementing a “Free Balance Screening” program at all their local clinics in Charlestown, Floyds Knobs, and New Albany.
Physicians are encouraged to refer any patient with dizziness, gait abnormalities, balance issues or history of falls for this free service. Findings of any areas of concern that may require more detailed testing or treatment will be reported to the physician and patient. Falls are the primary cause of accidental deaths in those over 65 years. In addition, the vast majority of hip fractures are caused by a fall. There are many possible causes of falls including advancing age, use of multiple medications, sensory deficits, weakness, and various balance/equilibrium problems. While common in the older adult, balance problems can be present in persons of any age and should be reported to a medical professional. Persons attending the screening will not be pressured to attend regular physical therapy sessions and PT services will only be initiated once approved by a physician.
People with balance problems with balance or falls are strongly encouraged to consult a physician, however, this free screening is also open to the public directly.
Call 812-256-7560 (Charlestown), 812-923-0912 (Floyds Knobs), or 812-945-6545 (New Albany) to schedule a screening time.
