NEW ALBANY —
Mother Nature decided to close the Harvest Homecoming booths early this year.
Sunday morning, festival officials received a final forecast from the National Weather Service and decided to cut the booths one day short due to a high wind advisory for the Louisville area. The booths were scheduled to be open from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
“From what they [National Weather Service] told us, we got the executive board together with our booth vice president and decided to make the call,” said Harvest Homecoming President Micah Arnold. “We had a wonderful weekend and all of our vendors understood and were appreciative.”
Weather was near perfect for the first three days of the booths which brought in huge crowds to New Albany’s downtown streets. Arnold said the weekend was a success thanks to the “beautiful weather.”
“I hated to have to close the booths today [Sunday], but we had to look out for the safety of our vendors and visitors,” he said.
