NEW ALBANY —
With New Albany bicentennial year on the doorstep, the Floyd County Historical Society Padgett Museum is inviting the public to come learn about the city’s history Saturday, Dec. 8, during its annual holiday open house.
The event will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the museum, which is located at 509 W. Market St. in downtown New Albany. Refreshments will be served and reservations aren’t necessary.
“It will be decorated for Christmas, and there’s no charge of course,” said Marilyn Peel, president of the Padgett Museum Ladies Auxiliary. “We just encourage people to come and get in the holiday spirit.”
Those who attend will be able to tour the museum. Copies of “Historic New Albany, Indiana: By the River’s Edge”, which is the city’s official bicentennial book will be on sale during the event.
There will also be copies of the “Bicentennial Scrapbook of New Albany, Indiana 1813-2013” available for purchase Saturday.
“We just want people to come and be aware of the Padgett Museum,” Peel said. “That’s sort of important right now with the bicentennial coming up.”
