Charlestown sports physicals
Sports physicals for athletes at Charlestown High School and Charlestown Middle School for the 2012-2013 school year will be offered at Charlestown Middle School from 5:30-7 p.m. on Monday, May 21.
All athletes currently in grades 5-11 are encouraged to get their physicals through this event. The cost is $20 and is cash only. A guardian must be present to fill out the necessary paperwork prior to seeing the physician.
Physical forms are available at www.ihsaa.org or through each school’s athletic departments.

Team Jeff to have two-day clinic
Michigan State University assistant wrestling coach and Olympic hopeful Alex Dolly will be conducting a two-day clinic for the Team Jeff Wrestling Club on Wednesday, May 9 and Thursday, May 10 at Jeffersonville High School.
Times for the clinic are from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on May 9 and 4-5:30 p.m. on May 10.
Dolly, an Ireland World Team Member, qualified for the NCAA Championships four times during his collegiate career at the University of Northern Iowa.

DNR to have ‘virtual’ open house
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Fish and Wildlife will be requesting ideas on fishing, hunting and trapping regulations during its “virtual” open house May 15-June 1.

• Jeff Thompson (Louisville baseball, Floyd Central graduate, Jr.) — top performance: winning pitcher in a starting role in the Cardinals’ 12-4 home victory over Pittsburgh on Friday, seven innings pitched, three runs allowed (all earned), three hits, seven strikeouts, three walks; notes: Thompson became the sixth pitcher in U of L history to earn 10 or more victories in a season on Friday; he is one win away from tying the school record for most victories in a season; Friday’s win clinched the Cardinals a share of the Big East Conference championship; they claimed the outright conference title on Saturday with a 7-4 home triumph over the Panthers; team records: 46-10 overall, 20-4 Big East; Thompson’s record: 10-1. -
