Jeffersonville senior Jordy Rigsby won the individual No. 1 singles sectional title with a 6-1, 6-0 win over New Albany’s Kyle Landrum on Friday.
Rigsby, who is now 25-4 on the season, advances to the Bedford North Lawrence Individual Regional on Oct. 13.

• Jeff boys, Pioneer girls win Providence Invite: Led by the second- and third-place finishes of Tyrell Dowdell and Oscar DeLeon, Jeffersonville’s boys won the Providence Invitational on Thursday. The Pioneers’ Murphy Sheets won the individual title with a 17:04, 23 seconds ahead of Dowdell.
Providence easily won the girls’ crown, outscoring runner-up Floyd Central 45-79. Erin Denis led the way for the Pioneers with a second-place finish in 21:21. Henryville’s Sadie Spears was the overall winner — following up Tuesday’s Southern Athletic Conference crown — in 20:14. Charlestown’s Whitney Andrews was third in 21:30.
