NEW ALBANY —
Ashmere Woods scored 11 points and grabbed an IU Southeast-record 21 rebounds to help lead the host Grenadiers to a 76-60 victory over Cincinnati-Clermont on Saturday.
Woods’ 21 boards tied Michelle Bauman’s record mark set in 1984-85 against Transylvania.
Woods had a spectacular all-around game, grabbing seven rebounds on the offensive end, handing out six assists and swiping a pair of steals as the Grenadiers snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 7-6 overall. Woods had 13 of her 21 boards in the first half as IU Southeast built a 44-22 halftime advantage.
Kortney Woods and Heather Wheat tied for a team-best 14 points. Wheat also had four steals and Kortney Woods had five boards. Megan Cureton finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Grenadier lead ballooned to as many as 35 points in the second half.
Clermont’s Marissa Stutz led all scorers with 20 points. She also had 12 rebounds. Stacie Lee had 11 points and Ashley Keith had 10 for the Cougars.
UC-Clermont (9-13) shot 26 percent from the field in the first half and they could not generate enough offense to get back in the game, despite the Grenadiers only shot 38 percent from the field in the game.
IU Southeast heads to Pittsburgh next weekend to take on Point Park on Saturday and Carlow University on Sunday.
