BLOOMINGTON —
Jeffersonville senior Alexa Waldrip beat Evansville Memorial’s Sarah Hayhurst by less than a point at the Bloomington Diviing Regional on Tuesday.
Waldrip’s 358.10 points gave her the final of four spots in Friday’s IHSAA diving state finals at IUPUI in Indianapolis.
Waldrip, who finished 13th at the Bloomington Regional a year ago, was also the Floyd Central Sectional champion on Saturday.
New Albany sophomore Laura Kessinger, who was the runner-up to Waldrip on Saturday, finished 11th at Bloomington. That was seven places better than her performance at the regional as a freshman.
Maddie Gordon of Center Grove was the regional champion after finishing runner-up in the regional and seventh in the state a year ago.
