> SOUTHERN INDIANA —
All season, Class 4A No. 13 New Albany has had to deal with adversity and injuries. Now, the Bulldogs will have to deal with the toughest possible Class 4A Seymour Sectional draw.
New Albany opens against the host and defending champion Owls. If the Bulldogs can get by No. 10 Seymour, they would likely face No. 14 Floyd Central in the semifinals. The Highlanders drew Jeffersonville in the opening round on Oct. 18.
Jennings County and Bedford North Lawrence drew byes in the sectional’s first round and won’t play until Saturday’s semifinals.
Class 3A No. 12 Silver Creek drew North Harrison in the Corydon Central Sectional opening round. The Dragons and Cats will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 16, as will Charlestown and Salem in the bottom half of the draw.
With a win, Silver Creek would face off with Corydon Central in the sectional semifinal on Saturday morning and sectional-favorite Brownstown Central, which is ranked fourth in Class 4A, in Saturday night’s championship.
Clarksville and the host Hornets will square off in the first round of the Class 2A Sectional 31 tournament on Thursday, Oct. 18. The winner will take on either Crawford County or Eastern in Saturday’s first semifinal.
Sectional-favorite Providence — ranked second in Class 2A — will face off with Paoli in the second semifinal. The winners of each semifinal will meet Saturday night.
In a strong, wide-open Class A Christian Academy Sectional field, Christian Academy will face Rock Creek in Thursday’s first quarterfinal, followed by Lanesville against Borden. The two winners will meet Saturday morning. In the second semifinal, sectional favorite New Washington takes on South Central.
