New Albany’s season finished on Saturday with a 24th-place showing at the IHSAA State Cross Country Meet in Terre Haute.
The Bulldogs, who grabbed the final spot at state by placing sixth at the Brown County Semistate last weekend, had two runners finish in the top 100.
Pryce Ragains was New Albany’s top finisher, he was 98th overall and completed the 5-kilometer event in 17:41. Jason Holcomb of New Albany was second for his team, placing 100th overall in 17:44.
Mathew Holcomb (110), Simon Quinkert 172 and Anthony LaPorte (175) finished out New Albany’s top five. Also for New Albany, Addison Gamble was 183rd and Alan Hoon placed 188th.
Columbus North rolled to the overall state title, finishing with a score of 63. Chesterton was second with 131.
North Harrison, which won sectional, regional and semistate en route to its trip to the state meet, wound up fifth overall with 212. The Cougars were led by senior runner Tyler Byrne, who was fifth overall in the state standings.

CLARK-FLOYD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Parkview wins eighth-grade title game; Highland Hills takes seventh-grade crown
Highland Hills’ seventh-grade boys and Parkview’s eighth-graders each won Clark-Floyd Tournament championships Thursday at Silver Creek Middle School.
The Highland Hills’ seventh-graders outscored Parkview 12-3 in the final 2:42 for a 34-31 victory. Parkview’s eighth-graders also earned a come-from-behind triumph with a 21-5 fourth quarter to avenge their only loss of the season, 63-50 over Silver Creek. -
