Rivals Jeffersonville and New Albany will meet again on Oct. 19 in the first round of the Class 5A Sectional 8 tournament.
Jeff (5-3) beat the 4-4 Bulldogs 42-19 on Sept. 28 in a game played in Jeffersonville. The Red Devils host the first-round tourney game, as well.
Despite being in the same sectional, the two teams have only met once in the playoffs since 2004. New Albany beat a 1-9 Red Devil team 32-13 in the opening round two years ago.
Also in Sectional 8, Floyd Central (2-6) will host unbeaten and fifth-ranked Castle in the opening round.
Class 3A No. 2 Charlestown (8-0) will host Mitchell (2-6) in the opening round of Class 3A Sectional 23 action. In the same half of the Sectional 23 bracket, Silver Creek (2-6) goes to Corydon Central (7-1). In the second round, Charlestown would either travel to Sellersburg to face the Dragons or host the No. 10 Panthers. Charlestown beat Silver Creek 70-13 on Sept. 14 and the Pirates trounced Corydon for the Mid-Southern Conference championship 47-0 on Sept. 28.
Clarksville (4-4) goes on the road to Pekin to face the one-win Musketeers in the firt round of Class 2A Sectional 31. The Generals beat Eastern 42-20 in Week 2. With a win, Clarksville would likely go to No. 10 Lawrenceburg (7-1) in the sectional semifinal.
In the other half of the Sectional 31 draw, Providence (3-5) travels to 12th-ranked Paoli (6-2) in the opening round. With a win, the Pioneers would travel to Triton Central (5-3) or host Monrovia (3-5).
