NEW ALBANY —
The IU Southeast volleyball team lost a tense, tight match 3-2 to KIAC rival Asbury Tuesday night.
Sara Schum had a team-high 18 kills for the Grenadiers, while Coral Maybrier added 17. Asbury’s Catherine Wolter had 19 kills to lead the Eagles.
Asbury (25-11, 6-3 KIAC) won the first set 25-22, before IU Southeast battled back with 28-26 and 25-23 wins in the second and third sets, respectively. Asbury dominated the fourth set 25-18 and jumped out to a quick lead to secure the victory with a 15-12 win in the decisive fifth set.
Asbury ranks third in the league in hitting percentage and it showed as they hit .240 in the match to the Grenadiers .178.
IU Southeast (16-12, 7-3 KIAC) heads to Lindsey Wilson on Thursday before they wrap the regular season by hosting Oakland City at 7 p.m. next Tuesday.
