Amanda Embry improved her record to to 9-1 on the season as she shut down Providence in a 2-1 Henryville win over the visiting Pioneers.
Embry limited Providence to three hits, all singles, and surrendered just one unearned run in the first inning of the victory.
Head coach Jennifer Schroeder also lauded her team’s late defense, who overcame some early errors to post a some late game-saving plays.
“Kelsey Kuntz made a catch in the outfield that saved us from giving up at least two runs late in the game,” Schroeder said. “We had some problems with our defense early on that led to a run, but we got some things figured out late in the game.”
