According to reports, a Southern Indiana lightning strike has injured four members of a girls high school softball team.
WAVE-TV quotes a spokeswoman for Schneck Medical Center in Seymour as saying the Seymour High School girls softball team was about to practice when lightning struck the field. She said one girl was listed in critical condition and was transferred to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. The three others were being treated for minor injuries.
The Tribune quotes Seymour Police Chief Bill Abbott as saying the lightning struck one of the girls and the three others suffered secondary injuries.
The lightning strike occurred sometime after 4 p.m. Abbott said skies were clear at the time.
