CLASS A BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Borden, New Wash fall at South Central

Braves fade late in 10-2 loss to Rebels; Mustangs lose in five to Lanesville, 10-0

ELIZABETH —

Borden and New Washington bowed out in the semifinals of the Class A South Central Sectional on Saturday. The Braves lost to the hosts, 10-2, while the Mustangs fell in five innings to Lanesville, 10-0.

In the matinee, the Mustangs watched Lanesville blast off three home runs and score three runs in each of the game’s final three innings to bring the game to an early end.

New Wash mustered just two hits in the contest, and the defense committed five errors in the loss.

In the second semifinal, Borden was within striking distance until the home sixth, when the Rebels lit up the scoreboard for seven runs to go up 10-1. The Braves put up a run in the seventh, but couldn’t rally back from the huge deficit.

South Central went on to win the sectional, 11-0 in five innings over Lanesville.
