All four local girls’ high school basketball sectionals were postponed on Tuesday night due to the snow storm that swept through the region.
The first round of the Class 4A Floyd Central Sectional will be played at 6 tonight. The first contest will be Bedford North Lawrence against Seymour, with host Floyd Central facing Jennings County in the second game at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The semifinals and finals for the tourney are still scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
In Class 3A at Silver Creek, Tuesday’s opening-round game between North Harrison and Crawford County will now be played at 7 tonight. Meanwhile, tonight’s scheduled first-round games — Charlestown versus Salem and Corydon versus Mitchell — have been moved to Friday at 6 and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
The semifinals will now be played Saturday at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and the finals will be on 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
At the Class 2A Brownstown Sectional, first-round play has been delayed until Thursday when Clarksville will face Paoli at 7 p.m. in the sectional opener. The other two opening-round games will be on Friday, with Austin facing West Washington at 6 p.m. followed by Brownstown Central playing Eastern (Pekin) at 7:30.
The semifinals will be Saturday. Providence will take on the Paoli-Clarksville winner in the first game at 6 p.m. and Friday’s winners will square off at 7:30 p.m. The championship will be on Monday.
At the Class A New Washington Sectional, the host Mustangs’ opening-round game against Christian Academy of Indiana will be played at 7 tonight.
The tonight’s scheduled first-round games will be played on Friday. Those contests will be Lanesville versus Rock Creek Christian Academy at 6 p.m., followed by Borden versus Henryville at 7:30 p.m.
The semis have been moved to Saturday with the CAI-New Wash winner facing defending sectional champion South Central at 6 p.m. Friday’s winners will face each other at 7:30 p.m. and the finals will be held on Monday.
In addition, the Silver Creek at Salem boys’ basketball game on Tuesday was postponed. It has been rescheduled for a week from tonight.
