Jeff selling all-sport passes

The Jeffersonville High School athletic office will be selling all-sport passes from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22 and Thursday, Aug. 23.



>>BASKETBALL

Southern Indiana Coaches Clinic

Providence High School will host the first-ever Southern Indiana Coaches Clinic from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Larkin Center.

Five of the best high school and college coaches from Southern Indiana and Louisville will be speaking. Those coaches include IU Southeast women’s basketball coach Robin Farris, Providence boys’ basketball coach Lou Lefevre, Jeffersonville boys’ basketball coach Chad Gilbert and Spalding University men’s basketball coach Charlie Just.

Also, former Henryville High School boys’ basketball coach Perry Hunter will be delivering a moving speech on the disaster at Henryville and his current mission with Athletes in Action.

Cost is only $25 per coach, two coaches from the same program are only $40, and a coach can bring his whole staff (from junior high to varsity) for only $50. All these fees apply if coaches register before Monday, Oct. 1.

If coaches register after Oct. 1, costs are $30 per coach, $50 for two coaches from the same program and $75 for the entire staff.

Proceeds from the clinic will go toward the Providence girls’ basketball program and Catholic Relief Charities.

There will be lunches available to purchase from Roosters, free Adidas T-shirts for the first 100 coaches to register and presentations by Kratz Sporting Goods and Sportstec.

Hoosier Hills Hoops Fall League

Registration is currently under way for the 2012 Hoosier Hills Hoops Fall Basketball League.

The league will have the following five divisions — elementary boys (grades 2-3 and 4-5), middle school girls (grades 6-8), middle school boys (grades 6-8), high school girls (grades 9-12), high school boys (grades 9-12).

The divisions will have their games on five consecutive Sundays, which are Sept. 23, Sept. 30, Oct. 7, Oct. 14 and Oct. 21. Those contests will be played at both Charlestown High School and Silver Creek High School.

Entry deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 5. Registration fees are $100 per player if registered by Sept. 5 and $110 per player if registered after Sept. 5. There will be no refunds after Sept. 5.

Spectators will be charged a $4 admission fee each week. High school coaches will be admitted free and must sign in at the door.

Indiana Earthquake tryouts

The Indiana Earthquake 99 14-and-under fastpitch softball team will be holding tryouts at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Scott Field, which is located on Hwy. 41 across from the fairgrounds.

BMW Championships

The 2012 BMW Championships will bring golf’s biggest names to Indiana. Tigers Woods, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson will play professionally in Indiana for the first time when they play Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel from Sept. 6-9 for an $8 million purse.

The BMW Championship has been played in Chicago in the past and Justin Rose is the defending champion. It is the biggest golf event to come to Indiana since John Daly won the PGA Championship at Crooked Stick in 1991.

Total attendance is estimated to be 125,000 over the four-day event.

All proceeds from the 2012 BMW Championship will benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which awards full tuition and housing college scholarships to caddies from modest means.

Those interested in attending still have the following ticket options to choose from:

∞ Daily Practice Round Ticket ($20): Can be used any one day of your choice Sept. 3-5.

∞ Daily Championship Round Ticket ($75): Can be used any one day of your choice Sept. 6-9.

∞ Day-Specific Wadley Club Ticket ($125): Can be used on a single day Sept. 6-9, and includes access to the Wadley Club, a climate-controlled pavilion located between the 15th and 16th holes that offers indoor and outdoor seating and superior views of tournament play.
