Floyd Central’s girls’ golfers shot a 335 combined on Tuesday and Wednesday to captured the 2012 Sunnyside Classic title.
New Albany was 18 strokes back in second at 353, Providence was third with a combined 447 and Jeff placed fourth with a 512.
Floyd’s Scarlett Hartlage was the two-day medalist after a 40 at each course. Teammate Morgan Stanley, who had a two-stroke lead heading into Wednesday, finished second.
New Albany was paced by Franci Burton’s 85 and Heidi Steinert’s 86. Jeff’s Madison Kane finished with a team-best 95 and Morgan Boone led Madison with a two-day total of 105.
NEXT: Providence hosts Corydon at Champions Pointe, today; New Albany vs. Eastern and Silver Creek at Hidden Creek, today; Floyd hosts Madison at Valley View, Monday; Jeff at Charlestown, Tuesday.
• Salem beats Borden: Brittney Walker led Salem to a 177-209 win over Borden with a match-best 37 on Tuesday at Western Hills Golf Club. Christina Fink led the Braves with a 43.

BOYS’ TENNIS
• New Wash improve to 2-0: Logan Miles and Tucker Warren came from a set down to help New Washington (2-0) defeat Southwestern 3-2 on Wednesday.
New Wash’s No. 2 doubles team of Miles and Warren dropped the first set to Brynen Chitwood and Adam Jackson before winning the second, 7-4 in the tiebreaker. The Mustang duo then took the final set 6-2.
Travis McKim and Wesley Napier won at No. 1 doubles and Jake Zimmerman was victorious at No. 1 singles for the Mustangs.
“We are definitely a work in progress because of our inexperience, but I’ll take two wins in two days any time,” New Wash coach Wayne Davis said. “Logan and Tucker gutting out that second-set win and then finished strong on the last court of the day to give us the win.”

• Charlestown edges Scottsburg: Chris Braun won at No. 1 singles, Kam Heil was victorious at No. 2 singles and Zach Whitten and Tyler Mossie won in three sets at No. 2 doubles to help Charlestown to a 3-2 victory over Scottsburg on Wednesday.
“This was our first MSC matchup and it was nice to come away with a win,” Charlestown coach Chris Ryan said.

CROSS COUNTRY
• Highlanders sweep again: After sweeping the boys’ and girls’ races at New Albany on Saturday, Floyd Central did the same on Tuesday at the Clarksville Hokum Karem on Tuesday. The pair of Alyssa Moore and Madison Barney won the girls’ race, and the Providence duo of Murphy Sheets and Lincoln Ottersbach won the boys’ race.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
• Jeff wins in final seconds for second straight victory: After beating Richmond on Saturday, Jeff’s girls improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Hoosier Hills Conference with an improbable 3-2 victory over Jennings County on Tuesday.
With 12 seconds left, Taylor Davis was fouled in the box Tuesday. Devan Carrier put the penalty kick past the Panther keeper to give the Devils the victory.
Camber Sollberg gave Jeff a 1-0 lead early, then after Jennings scored twice to take a 2-1 advantage, Ashlyn Crane tied it on Jeff’s first penalty kick.

BOYS’ SOCCER
• Jeff falls short at Trinity: Jeffersonville (2-1-1) fell 3-0 to Kentucky powerhouse Trinity on Tuesday.
“We played them to prepare for the post-season and learned some things about our team to get us better prepared for the tournament,” Devils coach Carson Webb said. “We played pretty well, though.”
