Clarksville dropped its Sectional 47 opening match to Paoli, 25-22, 25-16, 25-17, on Tuesday.
Clarksville coach Anne Bird said she was impressed with the Generals’ effort.
“We held our own,” she said. “I was proud of them.”

• Howlett, Shauver take Southern Athletic honors: Borden’s Chris Howlett was named the Southern Athletic Conference’s Most Outstanding Tennis Player, and his coach Ross Shauver, was named the SAC Coach of the Year.
Howlett went unbeaten in the SAC for the Braves, who also went 4-0 as a team in conference play. Howlett’s teammate Dalton Wagoner was also named All-SAC at No. 2 singles.
New Washington’s Tarren Clapp earned all-conference honors at No. 3 singles, and the Henryville No. 1 singles team of Taylor Stone and Taylor Weeks also received the honor. At No. 2 doubles, Lanesville’s Nick Schoen and Caleb Caldwell earned all-conference honors.
The conference championship was Borden’s third straight and fifth overall.
