Reader has questions about canal

The idea of a retaining pond to catch stormwater, and the canal to siphon it away to the Ohio River in Jeffersonville is an interesting concept.

What about all the times when there is no water?

A dry, concrete drainage ditch doesn't sound all that appealing. And actually, when you think about it, a gushing canal during a heavy rainstorm seems very likely dangerous.

What are the plans for these contingencies?

— Michael Gaubatz, Jeffersonville
