New Albany man faces battery, strangulation charges

NEW ALBANY —  

A New Albany man faces two preliminary felony counts in connection with an incident involving him and a 28-year-old woman.

Alton E. McBride, 23, who lives in the Cross Creek apartment complex located in the 2600 block of Green Valley Road, was arrested at the apartment he shares with the woman.

Police were sent there around 9:15 a.m. Thursday to investigate a domestic disturbance, which ended in McBride’s arrest. He was booked into Floyd County Jail charged with strangulation and domestic battery, both class D felonies.

FLEX Unit arrests two on drug charges

The New Albany Police Department’s FLEX unit arrested two people Thursday night after an investigation into the sale of the controlled drug Oxycotin.

Arrested in a parking lot at the intersection of E. Spring St. and Woodrow Ave. was Joshua Olin Jones, 30, of Clarksville, and Kasi M. Ballew, 20, of New Albany.

Jones has been preliminarily charged with dealing in a schedule controlled substance, a class B felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.

Ballew faces preliminary charges of dealing in a controlled substance, a class B felony, and assisting a criminal a class D felony.

Jones and Ballew were booked into the Floyd County Jail.

 

Indianapolis man arrested in New Albany for marijuana possession

New Albany police arrested an Indianapolis man early Friday morning after he was found with marijuana.

The arrest took place after an officer encountered Michael M. Maxwell, 42, along with two other men in the 300 block of Graybrook Lane, while the officer was searching for a juvenile that had run away from the county’s Youth Shelter. The officer thought the men were acting suspiciously and during his follow-up investigation, he found Maxwell in possession of marijuana.

Maxwell was booked into the Floyd County Jail on preliminary charges of

possession of marijuana, a class D felony, where he awaits further disposition.

 

New Albany man arrested on non-support warrant

A 31-year-old New Albany was taken into custody by New Albany police at  9:15 p.m. Thursday in connection with a felony warrant issued in Nelson County Kentucky charging him with flagrant non-support.

Shawn W. Thompson was arrested at his home in the 1900 block of Indiana Ave., by FLEX unit members and was later booked into the Floyd County Jail where he awaits disposition by Kentucky authorities.
