NEW ALBANY — A New Albany man was arrested Monday evening for allegedly attacking another man with a knife.

Just before 5 p.m., New Albany Police Department officers were called to a house in the 300 block of East 14th Street, said Maj. Keith Whitlow.

Police found a 27-year-old man with a facial laceration. The victim identified his attacker as William Black Jr., 27, of the 300 block of East 15th Street. According to police, the men began fighting over interest on a $60 debt.

Officers went to Black’s house and found marijuana and marijuana-related paraphernalia in plain view, Whitlow said.

The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening. He refused treatment at the scene but was later treated at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

Black was charged Tuesday with class B felony aggravated battery, class A misdemeanor possession of marijuana and class A misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
